The objective of this
conference is to provide an interdisciplinary forum for discussion of the
present state
of knowledge of storms in Mediterranean environment, in relation to their
meteorological and hydrological
aspects and with particular reference to their ground effects (floods and
landslides).
The main focus will be on a better understanding of physical phenomena,
including their variability in space
and time, and of the interactions between climatic forcing and land
response.
We expect that this workshop may stimulate improvements in monitoring
techniques, through more refined
identification of key parameters to measure, and progresses in the strategies
for disaster mitigation.
