CURRICULUM

Born in Sargodha, Pakistan on 06th January 1985

  • January 2012 – Joined the department of hydraulics on scholarship awarded by Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan.
  • July 2010—Masters in Water Resources Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology Lahore. MS Thesis Title—Sediment Simulation of Tarbela Reservoir by using CCHE2D model.
  • July 2007—Bachelors in Agricultural Engineering from University of Agriculture Faisalabad.

Reasons of joining Hydraulic Department

The floods of 2010 and 2011 destroyed three major provinces of Pakistan. Due to its unique geo-climatic conditions, Pakistan is one of the most disaster prone countries in the world. Four provinces, AJK and Gilgit-baltistan are vulnerable to one or the other geo-climatic disaster. Over 40% of landmass is vulnerable to earthquakes, 6% to cyclone, 60% to floods and 25% of the Barani land under cultivation is vulnerable to drought. Taking into consideration the value of development gains which are wiped out through floods, as also the huge quantum of funds required for post disaster relief and rehabilitation, any investment in disaster mitigation especially in flood mitigation, will yield a higher rate of return than any other development project for Pakistan.

Sensing the need of research in this particular sector, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan offered me a scholarship for PhD studies. I chose to work in hydraulic department because the level of research going on in this department suited me and my research area, the most. At the moment I am working under the supervision of Prof. Pierluigi Claps and I am sure that on my return to my country, after completing my PhD , I will have a lot of things in me for my Country.
